Delgado Charity School of Nursing combines the art of caring with the science of health care for one of the most in-demand, high-growth career tracks in the industry. We welcome all applicants from Delgado and other colleges and universities in addition to the experienced professional seeking a career change.
The nursing faculty members foster excellence through their knowledge and expertise in the nursing profession. All students are assigned a faculty advisor as a mentor. Licensed graduates are qualified for employment as entry-level staff nurses in hospitals, long-term care facilities, clinics, physicians’ offices, and home care agencies. Graduates are confident and professional nurses. The Nursing Program, including the general education courses, can be completed in five semesters. The curriculum provides a strong foundation in natural and social sciences and an understanding of patient care in a variety of settings, while providing students with knowledge and skills necessary to provide nursing care to clients and groups of clients throughout their lifespan. Clinical experience is at the core of the nursing curriculum. In order to provide a wide range of experiences, a variety of clinical facilities are used throughout the Greater New Orleans area.

The Associate of Science program can be completed in 2.5 years.

The Louisiana State Board of Nursing (LSBN) must approve a student to enroll in a clinical nursing course. Part of the approval process is based on a criminal records background check. For more information on their denial or delay of licensure, reinstatement, or the right to practice nursing as a student nurse, visit the LSBN website.

Apply to the Generic program if you are a first-time student entering at Level I
Apply to the Transition program if you are a licensed LPN and would like to enroll in 1 semester of Transitions in Nursing and Pharmacology for Transitions and upon completion advance to Level III.
