THE TONI REMBE THEATER

The beautiful, historic Toni Rembe Theater (formerly the Geary Theater)—rising from the rubble of the catastrophic earthquake and fires of 1906 and immediately hailed as the “perfect playhouse”—has been our home since the beginning.

Truly a fixture of our San Francisco community, the Toni Rembe Theater is located in the heart of the Union Square shopping and theatrical district, close to public transportation and some of the finest hotels, restaurants, and cultural treasures the city has to offer.

We acknowledge the land

As part of our commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, we are in the process of building a meaningful, continual relationship with the local Indigenous theater community. As part of this we begin by honoring the lands upon which we do our work. We would be proud to offer deep gratitude to the tribal band of Ramaytush Ohlone peoples and their lands that cover Northern California and down the Pacific coastline. Prior to the arrival of the Spanish in the 1700s, the Ramaytush Ohlone numbered approximately 1500 persons, and made their life on the sacred lands. Due to the invasion and the establishment of Franciscan Missions throughout California, only a few families survived and still remain. Those descendants make up the membership of the Association of Ramaytush Ohlone (ARO) today. We honor the Ohlone as a people, their resilience, and all they have done and continue to do in maintaining sacred and ancestral lands, ceremony, and communities to this day.

The Garret

On the fifth floor of the Toni Rembe Theater, you'll find the Garret, a private cabaret space overlooking Geary Street that can be used for everything from dinner parties to cocktail receptions to special preshow performances. A flexible and intimate room that can be arranged in a number of ways, from theater seating to banquet dining to a boardroom- or classroom-style setup, the Garret comes equipped with a catering kitchen and an LED-lighted feature wall, offering visitors a state-of-the-art experience.
